| If you haven't noticed
that Motor Racing has become majorly popular in Tav over the last
few months then where have you been. It all started when Dave Williamson
thought he'd give it ago, and then Neil Cartlidge and John Ratcliffe
got bitten by the bug as well.
Anyway, it was a very cold October morning and I'd been invited
over to watch the guys race at Buxton, and while there get a few
snaps for the website. All three of our boys were raring to go,
and couldn't wait for there first heat. It started well, but not
long into the race Dave showed signs of trouble and had to pull
into the centre with a flat tyre. Reggae and Neil continued with
Neil pushing forward and just securing himself a place in the final.
Reggae and Dave would need to qualify in their second heat.
After a quick tyre change, Dave was back on the track for the second
race. Unfornately luck wasn't going there way and Reggae was forced
to pull out this time after a small bump pushed his rear bumper
into his tyres. None of the lads managed to qualify in this second
heat, but as Neil had done well in the first heat he progressed
through to the final.
By the time of the final, my fingers had gone numb and I was on
my way back to the Tav, but from reports later that day,Neil made
a great effort and managed to stay in mid position throughout the
final. |

| I should also mention that Neil's car
is sponsored by the Tav, and as a thank you he put
the website address down the side of the car. It took Tony hours
of painting to get the car ready in time for the racing at Buxton,
and unfortunately in the final Neil took a blow to the side and it
trashed all the paint work. Oops...nevermind. |
