The trouble with surprise parties is that prior to the party the person whose birthday it is thinks everyone hates them because they all make excuses for why they can't come out to celebrate. This is exactly what happened to Greg - all his mates had other plans, his parents were going out to a wedding and so he solmonly headed up to the Tav with Emma for a quiet pint.
On arriving everything soon became obvious though when the pub was full of all of his friends and family. Regular Tav guiterist Gaz had been booked to entertain, and the highlight of the night was Greg getting up and doing two duets with him.
