Saturday 14th March was the day of Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter race track and as normal Big Rob had organised a trip to go. I arrived in the Tav at 10am and had my breakfast (a povy's oatcake and a bottle of Smirnoff Ice) and then about 30 of us piled on to the coach ready for a day at the races. The trip there proved to be quite eventful - our normal coach driver Mike was out on a different job and his replacement had a very unique driving style. Lets just say that he liked kerbs...and fences....and houses... and his braking foot seemed to have a mind of its own.

We arrived and headed straight for the posh bar (we always pay a little extra for tickets so we don't have to go to the standard bar). First bets were on and quite a few of us actually managed to win. Unfortunately thats where the winning streak ended. Race after race went by and

more and more money was lost. The losing streak ended for one or two people when "Asparagus" won the 5th race at 7-1 odds. Rob and Mick were happy men. Later in the day we all headed back to the Tav for a buffet tea. By this time Rob was so plastered he kept falling off his stool and had to be carried home.

What a roll model - Pugwash hits the booze again after winning his first bet.

Tony can't be bothered to walk outside to watch the races so instead he sits in the bar and watches it on BBC1.

George reaches for his pocket to find a £1 for his next bet.
Daz is caught in a compromising situation.
Just to prove Pugwash actually attended

Daz is happy after a win.
Jimmy's so happy he won - he leans over to snog Rob!
