Goodbye
& Hello (Yet Again)
|
14/03/2001 |
 |
| So then whats been going on over the past two or
three months. The last time I updated the News Section
Tanya was still in charge of pub, and as we all know
a lot has changed since then. I won't go into the in's
and outs of why Tanya has the left but if you've seen
her lately you will notice her bump. I'd like to wish
Tanya, Mark and the kids all the best, and good luck
with the new baby. They will be greatly missed. |
|
Anyway over the past year we've all got used to the routine.
As one relief manager leaves, the next takes over, and for
the past two and a half months Wayne has been in charge.
Most of you have probably got to know Wayne already but
if don't know anything about him, then he is originally
from the Wirrall and is hoping to take over the pub on a
full time basis. You may have noticed the pub hasn't quite
been the same since Christmas, but apparentely all spending
has been cut off until a permanent manager is in place.
This is why no events have been held lately but hopefully
very soon the disco's and karaoke's will be making a comeback.
The next two months are going to be very uncertain but
I will keep you informed as I get more information.

FOR THE LASTEST PUB QUIZ
NEWS AND PHOTO'S CLICK HERE
Since just before Christmas I have taken over hosting the
pub quiz on a Monday night to ensure that they carry on
while the future of the Tav's new Manager hangs in the balance.
The format of the quiz is 40 general knowledge question,
a music round, picture round, and Dingbats section. If you've
never been to a quiz in the pub, or if you used to and haven't
been up for a while then can I urge you to come along and
take part. Its a great laff and the competitive atmosphere
is really good. In few weeks I'll be starting up a league
for the quiz and recording the scores for each team on the
Internet. I'm hoping to organise prizes at the end of the
league for the top three teams. For more info then email
me, or have a chat with me in the pub.

November/December News
|
12/11/2000 |
 |
| Its been a really busy period
in the Tav over the past month. We have had 2 birthday celebrations,
a variety of quizes, singers and lots more. Talking about
quizes, I'd like to congratulate all the younger people in
the pub for doing so well over the past few weeks. At the
film quiz last week, all 3 prizes were won by teams consisting
of under 25's, and we even saw history in the making when
the Valiants came last and won a pack of Digestives. Christmas
Eve is almost upon us (or will be by the time I eventually
upload this page) and all tickets for the night were snapped
up within the first weekend of being available. New Years
Eve tickets are being handed out this weekend and due to fire
restrictions imposed on the pub there are a limited amount
available so make sure you get them early. |

Cassies
21st
|
12/11/2000 |
 |
|
December the Tav was host to Cassie's
21st Birthday bash. After the shocking appearances of Penny
Crayon and Sadistic Sadie at previous birthday bashes in
the pub, everyone waited with baited breathe to see what
entertainment had been arranged. Unfortunately (or maybe
luckily) for the men in the pub there was no Shaven Raven
tonight, but there was a visit by "Richard Near 'Not
Quite Gere' ".
The
party was a really good laugh, and thanks to the entertaining
posters of Cassie as a baby on show, Johns excellent disco,
and a free buffet, everyone appeared to have a great time.
I have got about 40 photo's which I have now put on line.
I've also trying to get a copy of the poem that Richard
Near wrote about Cassie, which reveals disturbing details
about Cassies dealings with Arthurs Underwear business.

S & M Spectacular - (Spences 21st)
|
12/11/2000 |
 |
|
For
anyone who was lucky enough to see Penny
Crayon just over a year ago you'll be pleased to hear
that we had a visit from one of her colleagues last week.
Spence was celebrating
his 21st and so we all clubbed together and thought what
could be better than getting him a stripper. What we didn't
realise however was the Kinky Copper that we had ordered
was actually the famous S & M stripper Sadistic Sadie.
By the time she had finished with him, his Crown Jewels
had been crushed by a pair of Stilleotoes
(the chances of him ever experiencing Fatherhood ruined),
and his back was covered in scars from being tied up and
whipped. The photo's will be online by the end of the week.

News Update - NEW LANDLADY
|
12/11/2000 |
 |
|
First
of all I would like to apologise that over one of the most
eventful periods in the Tavern, I haven't been updating
the site. I do have a good reason for this and it has quite
a lot to do with my computer blowing up and taking a good
month to fix. Anyway lets get on with the news.
|
|
You may have
noticed a new face behind the bar over the past few weeks
and thats because we have a new landlady, Tania. Tania started
out just covering as Relief Manager while Ron and Lorraine
went on their honeymoon, but when they arrived back they
were informed by the brewery that they were being moved
to take over a pub in Newcastle. Tania was then offered
the Tav on a more permanent basis and took charge a few
weeks ago.
|
|
|
|
In the space
of just a few weeks we've seen a lot of changes, the most
noticable being a sudden increase of people on a Friday
and Saturday night. The fortnightly disco's will be continuing
and there will also be a whole host of live acts on over
the coming months. The Tarot card reader will also be returning
in just over a week if you would like your fortunes told.As so much
is taking place now i'm going to try to regularly update
the site. At the top of this page there will be a diary
of everything that is going on in the coming weeks, so keep
coming back to find out more.

|
After last
years terrible disaster, the Tavern has rejoined the pool
league and we're of out to redeem ourselves. If you're interested
in finding out more then just give Chris
Hill a shout. You can find him most weekends practising
his skills up the corner. I also believe that we are also
doing quite well in the darts league, but I shall have to
confirm this with Arthur. Next Disco
on Saturday 23rd September.

|
12/09/2000 |
 |
| It seems like
it is the month for congratulations. I'd like to wish Robbie
and Leslie all the best on the arrival of their first baby
daughter. Baby Kaitlin Charlotte Walmsley was born at 2:18pm
on Wednesday the 30th of August. Mother and baby are both
doing well. |

|
12/09/2000 |

like to wish Ron and Lorraine good luck for this Saturday

Bench
Watch Update
|
28/08/2000 |
 |
| Rumours have
recently been circulated that a bench was spotted on the Tavern
roof. Nobody knows how this has happened or who is tasking
responsibility for the task. Are supernatural forces at work
or did Teddy Ruxbin just get bored one night? Nobody knows,
but any information or even pictures would be greatly appreciated. |

News
|
28/08/2000 |
 |
| Although its been a quiet spell in the pub over the past
few weeks I thought I had better inform the masses about what
has been going on. You may have noticed the return of Box
13 at the weekend. Tickets are onsale both Friday and Saturday
night and is drawn at 10.30 on Saturday. We're currently down
to 11 keys and prize money of £220.If you're bored in
the week and a big music fan then why not come up for Rons
Disco Quiz. He's holding it every Wednesday night starting
around 9pm. Also starting Saturday August 26th, John
Cornelius will be DJ'ing every fortnight playing a mix
of old classics and new chart music. Do you know the intimate
secrets of people in the pub? Would you like to? I'm still
in the process of trying to update the locals page but am
having trouble coming up with good gossip on people. If you'd
like an example of the stuff I'm after just check out what's
currently there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Changes
ahead
|
15/07/2000 |
 |
|
As you may
have noticed there have been a few changes at the Tav over
the past few weeks. Can I be the first to welcome the pubs
new Manager, Ron. Ron and his fiance Lorraine are both originally
from the area but have spent the past two years running
a little but hectic pub in Wales. Best of luck to the both
of them and I'll post a photo just a soon as I get one.
Lets not forget
Skel though, we'll be adding him to our Landlord hall of
fame. Good luck mate in the future whatever you're planning
to do. He'll be missed but not forgotten. Along with
our new landlord comes a few new selected brands on sale.
Cider has made a return to the tap, and we also have a guest
mild on at the bargain price of £1.10 per pint, and
the addition of Calsberg Export. Ask behind the bar for
more details

2000 Coverage
|
13/06/2000 |
 |
 |
Over the past
few weeks the Tav supported our boys in style, even though
we were terrible. The England Games were hectic and you
couldn't move in the pub but the atmosphere was superb. Some had the
chance to win £25 by selecting the first scorer at
each of the England matches. (I however managed to pull
out the Reserve Goalie for Portugal).
| The
photo's of this event are a little thin on the ground
because I spent most of my time stuck behind the bar
but click here to see some

For years
we've been puzzled by Crop Circles, but just over a month
ago we were lucky enough to witness a new unexplained phenomemn,
and it happened to be right on our own doorstep. What we
saw was the first recorded account of Bench Stacking in
Biddulph. Why are benches suddenly appearing stacked on
top of each other, who is doing this and to what end.We
hope to answer all of these questions in our on-line investigation
"Bench Watch". Since the original sighting we
have seen Benches appear in many strange positions included
within the pub. For bigger shots click on the pictures below.

Anyone who
regularly goes into the Tav should know Arthur,
and from us all I'd just like to wish him a happy 68th birthday.
He celebrated
