After last
years terrible disaster, the Tavern has rejoined the pool
league and we're of out to redeem ourselves. If you're interested
in finding out more then just give Chris
Hill a shout. You can find him most weekends practising
his skills up the corner. I also believe that we are also
doing quite well in the darts league, but I shall have to
confirm this with Arthur. Next Disco
on Saturday 23rd September.

| It seems like
it is the month for congratulations. I'd like to wish Robbie
and Leslie all the best on the arrival of their first baby
daughter. Baby Kaitlin Charlotte Walmsley was born at 2:18pm
on Wednesday the 30th of August. Mother and baby are both
doing well. |
 |
| I would just
like to wish Ron and Lorraine good luck for this Saturday
(16th Sept) when they are getting wed. I'll try and get hold
of some of the pictures and post them here ASAP. More news
to come..... |
| Rumours have
recently been circulated that a bench was spotted on the Tavern
roof. Nobody knows how this has happened or who is tasking
responsibility for the task. Are supernatural forces at work
or did Teddy Ruxbin just get bored one night? Nobody knows,
but any information or even pictures would be greatly appreciated. |
| Although its been a quiet spell in the pub over the past
few weeks I thought I had better inform the masses about what
has been going on. You may have noticed the return of Box
13 at the weekend. Tickets are onsale both Friday and Saturday
night and is drawn at 10.30 on Saturday. We're currently down
to 11 keys and prize money of £220.If you're bored in
the week and a big music fan then why not come up for Rons
Disco Quiz. He's holding it every Wednesday night starting
around 9pm. Also starting Saturday August 26th, John
Cornelius will be DJ'ing every fortnight playing a mix
of old classics and new chart music. Do you know the intimate
secrets of people in the pub? Would you like to? I'm still
in the process of trying to update the locals page but am
having trouble coming up with good gossip on people. If you'd
like an example of the stuff I'm after just check out what's
currently there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

As you may
have noticed there have been a few changes at the Tav over
the past few weeks. Can I be the first to welcome the pubs
new Manager, Ron. Ron and his fiance Lorraine are both originally
from the area but have spent the past two years running
a little but hectic pub in Wales. Best of luck to the both
of them and I'll post a photo just a soon as I get one.
Lets not forget
Skel though, we'll be adding him to our Landlord hall of
fame. Good luck mate in the future whatever you're planning
to do. He'll be missed but not forgotten. Along with
our new landlord comes a few new selected brands on sale.
Cider has made a return to the tap, and we also have a guest
mild on at the bargain price of £1.10 per pint, and
the addition of Calsberg Export. Ask behind the bar for
more details

Over the past
few weeks the Tav supported our boys in style, even though
we were terrible. The England Games were hectic and you
couldn't move in the pub but the atmosphere was superb. Some had the
chance to win £25 by selecting the first scorer at
each of the England matches. (I however managed to pull
out the Reserve Goalie for Portugal).
| The
photo's of this event are a little thin on the ground
because I spent most of my time stuck behind the bar
but click here to see some

For years
we've been puzzled by Crop Circles, but just over a month
ago we were lucky enough to witness a new unexplained phenomemn,
and it happened to be right on our own doorstep. What we
saw was the first recorded account of Bench Stacking in
Biddulph. Why are benches suddenly appearing stacked on
top of each other, who is doing this and to what end.We
hope to answer all of these questions in our on-line investigation
"Bench Watch". Since the original sighting we
have seen Benches appear in many strange positions included
within the pub. For bigger shots click on the pictures below.

Anyone who
regularly goes into the Tav should know Arthur,
and from us all I'd just like to wish him a happy 68th birthday.
He celebrated
in the pub on the 30th April with his daughter and friends.

I would like
to congratulate Robbie Walmsley and Leslie Snape on the
announcement of Leslies pregnancy. I will be keeping you
all updated on how things are going on this page but if
you would like more information you can follow the 9 month
ongoing saga at the homepage that Grandad-to-be Big Rob
has setup. Seems with 10 weeks to go and counting things
are still looking good.

25-year-old
regular is preparing for a chance of a lifetime trek across
Zimbabwe. Jenny Renshaw, of Asquith Close, Biddulph, will
fly out in June for the 10 day trek, in which she will walk
for eight hours a day. She is raising money for mental health
charity MENCAP and needs at least £2,200 in sponsorship.
Jenny a sales
consultant said: "My fathers fiancee adopted two Down's
Syndrome children and I see how much care they need. They
live in a loving family but not everyone has that kind of
support."
She plans
to join Biddulph Ramblers for more training and works out
at the gym. Fundraising events have so far included a football
match based at the Tavern, and a Karaoke night at the Roebuck.
If you haven't already been asked by Jenny and would like
to sponsor her then please leave your details behind the
bar and she will get back in touch with you.

On Friday
4th February we held a surprise party in the Tav for Louise
(from behind the bar), and Helen Bowyer (a good friend of
Louise and Cassies). For entertainment Skel booked Terrys
Karaoke, and the night was full of some of the most comical
and appalling singing that had been heard in the pub for
some time. The bar staff and Dave prepared enough food to
go around, and Zoe had baked a cake decorated with cars
and speed camera's (if you want to know the signigficance
of this then ask Louise) The
photo's are now on-line, just click

On
March 17th, the Tavern Regulars held a party at Biddulph Moor
Village Hall. Although we were very disappointed with the
turn out, all of those that did show had a brilliant time
and went home in some of the biggest messes that I have seen
for a long time. The theme of the night was Super Heroes and
Super Villains. Expect some photo's and even a few video clips
very soon. |
